Food & Drink in North Wales
A taste of North Wales.
We tickle your taste buds with everything from fine dining to posh fish and chips. Places throughout the region serve up all kinds of treats – traditional afternoon teas and stylish contemporary cuisine, hearty meals for hungry walkers and top-notch dining for special occasions at award-winning restaurants.
Like all good cooking, local flavours shine through. We’re lucky. We’ve got a lot on our plate – Conwy mussels and Welsh Black beef, succulent mountain-reared Welsh lamb and catch-of-the-day super-fresh seafood. It’s a true taste of North Wales. It’s fresh food that’s slow, not fast, food that hasn’t travelled miles to get to your plate.
You’ll taste the difference everywhere. And see and hear more about it at the recently opened Bodnant Welsh Food Centre in the Vale of Conwy. This new £6½-million complex, the only one of its kind in Wales, is a must-visit for foodies. Located in a beautifully renovated farm complex, it’s a food shop, tearoom, restaurant, bakery, butchery and cookery school all rolled into one.
Food shopping is a pleasure everywhere, at places like Edwards of Conwy (the ultimate butcher’s shop) and Blas ar Fwyd deli in Llanrwst – both are award-winners.
The Eating Out in Conwy website has further details on places to eat in Conwy county, food events, markets and lots of foodie informationn.
